- There's no Mac version of the game.
- CrossOver is the easiest; try the free trial.
- Parallels + Windows 11 is the heaviest but reliable.
- Never download "Mac versions" from other sites.
You can still play through a compatibility layer or a virtual machine. Many players do; we can't officially support it, and how well it runs depends on your Mac.
Get the client from the Download page first, whichever option you choose.
Your options
| Option | Cost | Works on | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| CrossOver (by CodeWeavers) | Paid, with a free trial | Intel and Apple Silicon Macs | A Wine-based app that runs Windows programs without installing Windows. The easiest option for most people. Try the free trial before you buy. |
| Parallels Desktop + Windows 11 | Paid (Parallels and possibly a Windows licence) | Apple Silicon and Intel Macs | Runs a full copy of Windows in a window. Usually the most reliable, but heavier on memory and disk space. On Apple Silicon this is the ARM version of Windows 11, which runs older Windows programs through emulation. |
| Wine-based free tools | Free | Varies | Possible, but more fiddly. Note that Whisky, a popular free wrapper, stopped development in 2025; only an unofficial community fork continues it. |
| Boot Camp (Windows on the Mac itself) | Windows licence | Intel Macs only | Restart into real Windows. Not available on Apple Silicon (M1 and newer). |
Using CrossOver (outline)
- Install CrossOverStart the free trial.
- Create a new bottleA separate fake Windows install for the game.
- Extract the client into itFor example its
C:\Games\folder. - Run the launcherFrom inside the bottle.
- Log inWith the account from the Register page.
If it doesn't work
Try the game's windowed mode, or a different Windows version setting in the bottle (Windows 7 often works for old games).
Make sure you extracted the whole client, not just the launcher.
Close other apps; in Parallels, give the virtual machine more memory.
Ask other Mac players in the community. Staff can't fix problems that come from the compatibility layer itself.
Please don't
- Don't: Don't download "Mac versions" of the game from other websites. They are not from us and may contain malware.
- Don't: Don't use tools that change how the game client behaves.
- Running the normal client through CrossOver, Parallels or Wine is fine.
Linux
The same idea applies: Wine (or a Wine front end such as Lutris) works for most players.
